Starting June 18 through July 17, please join us in a prayer journey to become better acquainted with the Turks of Turkey, the unreached Muslim people group that our church has committed to reach with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The 30 days of our prayer journey coincide with the Islamic month of Ramadan, when many in Turkey commit to the discipline of daily fasting and praying. Our hope is that each day’s short devotional and call to prayer will help our FBCG community grow in our understanding of what God is doing in Turkey and how we can be involved. This year because so many rely on electronic communication, we are offering three ways to participate in this prayer journey:
We, the people of First Baptist Church of Geneva, covenant with our Lord and one another to adopt the Turks of Turkey.
We promise to do whatever it takes to share God’s transforming love and build up His church among them.
We trust in our Lord’s faithfulness to provide both the will and the way for us to carry out our promise.
We make this agreement beginning March 13-14, 2004 until a healthy church is established in Turkey.
FBCG Turkey Outreach
FBCG has selected the unreached people of Turkey with few churches and little access to the Gospel for a focused missions initiative in the years ahead. Fulfilling our adoption covenant requires a long-term partnership with mission workers and churches ministering among the unreached Turks. We can contribute prayers, financial support, and additional workers from our congregation. People with many kinds of skills and interests can find opportunities to serve in this ministry. The Lord is calling some of our people to serve at home, others to join yearly short-term missions to Turkey, and a few to go for several years or as career missionaries who will learn the Turkish language and culture and do the deeper work of missions.
